"Gotcha" Day - December 12, 2005

Lynne and I and the kids have prayed that somehow, maybe even supernaturally, Gwen would know us, be comforted by us and be happy when we meet. We understand the traumatic nature of the event, and that normally it is tough on the child, and she cries and experiences natural separation anxiety from her caregiver. Yet, we still prayed this, boldly. Not for our comfort or well-being or benefit... but for Gwen's...

Our prayers were answered. We are blessed to share that our meeting was very happy. Gwen was peaceful and and came right to us. She let us hold her immediately and as we played with her with our Winnie-the-Pooh puppet, she laughed and smiled and teased back at us.

We will give you the details later. She is sleeping now. And we must watch...

Here are a few pictures of our first meeting! Now... we are six-

Looks like a good first day! Have you taught her to say "Uncle Beav" yet?

Oh Joy!!! I can't look at these pictures without crying. She's absolutely wonderful!

I just showed them to Emma Grace, and she says she wants to come see you. I said maybe she and I should go see you together. She said, "Maybe Thursday."

Sounds good to me!!!

Congratulations! Gwen is absolutely adorable! I've been checking your blog often just for this news and I'm so happy to see that your first meeting was smooth for everyone! We were in China getting our Gwen just three months ago and it looks like the weather is very much different now! I have such a memory of the incredibly heat but Gwen is looking so cute in that fluffy warm pink outfit so I'm reminded that it's not always hot in China!

I'll keep following along if you don't mind. It's fun to know another Gwendolyn from China!

Isn't it amazing to know that before Gwen was born, even before you both were born Lynne and Scott, that God knew Gwen would be your daughter. She was meant to be in your home, to be a part of your family and in all of our lives!
