Madelyn's friend Elise spent the weekend with us a couple of weeks ago while her parents were at a conference. Elise was adopted from China as an infant, and like Gwen, is the youngest of four. She is a sweet, kind, fun, thoroughly American girl who happens to be living in China for a few years. Being with her helps me imagine Gwen in five years, well-adjusted and comfortable with being an Asian child in a Caucasian family.
