Under the Sea... sort of

I don't know about you, but I found this diving tank at the hotel we stayed at in Sanya just a little bit funny! It was salt water, and had some colorful fish in it. We all gave it a try... the fish were fraidy cats and didn't come too close to us. Perhaps a little food would have helped. Seth's giving me a thumbs up from inside the tank in this photo!

Macarena with a View

Madelyn, Gwen, and our friend Audrianna did a little dancing in the late afternoon sunshine!
We spent the three day weekend in Sanya, on Hainan Island, off the southern coast of China with four other families.

Sanya Pool Pics

Taking it easy...

Fish girl!

We wondered a little what this creature was supposed to be....
And after a full day of water play, Seth displays what the kids' hands all looked like!

His Smile

Scott and the boys were fooling around by the pool one afternoon while we were in Sanya. I zoomed in on Caleb and ended up with these wonderful shots of his winning smile. I love it when he smiles like this... his whole face lights up and I can't help smiling back. These expressions remind me who he really is... do you know what I mean?

I can't seem to choose a favorite among all of these... which one do you like?

Sanya Flowers and Fruits

I had so much fun walking around our hotel finding all these beautiful flowers!

We've eaten these small, pear shaped, rosy colored fruits before... not sure the real name, but I've heard them called rose apples.

I think these may be dates.

Almost the Big One

We celebrated my birthday our first night in Sanya. Somehow the last of the 30's wasn't quite as hard a blow in such a beautiful setting!

Caleb and I had fun taking pictures of each other!

Gwen is anxious to get into the cake!
Thank you, Scott, for a wonderful birthday weekend... celebrated with my favorite people!

Sliding

Great fun was had by all on the water slide at the pool... Scott and I even went down a few times, although thankfully there are no pictures to prove it!

Beach Weekend

We enjoyed a few days at Yalong Bay in Sanya, on Hainan Island in southern China this past weekend. The island is known as the "Chinese Hawaii". I've never been to Hawaii, but if it's anything like Sanya, it must be nice. :-) Anywhere there is sand, sun, surf and a pool can't be all bad! The beautiful, lush vegetation was a wonderful bonus, as we are a little short on vegetation in downtown Shanghai.
See the little plastic boat Gwen is holding in the picture below? We bought it in the hotel gift shop with a few plastic sand toys in it for the girls to use on the beach. For some reason, the girls named the boat after their friend Kylia in Chicago! It cracked us up all weekend to hear them refer to this boat as "Kylia", but by the time we left we were all saying it!

Is something missing, Caleb?!
