Malaysian Borneo

Well, Kota Kinabalu is certainly a different world compared to Shanghai. We've traded the snow, concrete, haze, the Huangpu River, and skyscrapers as far as the eye can see for warmth, bright blue skies, lush greenery, and the South China Sea. After a rocky start due to frayed emotions after traveling through the night, we're really enjoying being together.

We're staying on the South China Sea, in downtown Kota. There isn't a beach close to our hotel, but we've enjoyed several half days at small, uninhabited islands a ten minute boat ride away. On both islands there were snorkling sites just a short swim from the beach... the many varieties of colorful fish crowded around us! Here are a few pictures from the first day.

Great pictures Lynne. It looks like you are all having a lot of fun! It's refreshing to see pictures of blue sky despite the gray skies here in Ohio. It looks like you are excelling with your new camera!! The picture of the girls walking down the pier is great! Tell the family I say hello! Enjoy the rest of your trip. - Matt
