Now We Will Be Six!

Hello, All!
Just want to introduce you to what we hope will be a point of communication for us in the coming months as the adventure of finally meeting our Chinese daughter and bringing her home unfolds. We plan to use this blog to include you in a very exciting time for our family! Hopefully there will be some "breaking news" soon... until then, we'll be here... and waiting.

For those who don't know, we are waiting with much anticipation for The Referral. This means the call from our agency that we have been matched by the China Center for Adoption Affairs with a child. They will call first with all the basic information about our daughter, then express mail the hard copies of all the info (and pictures!) they have about her. That will give us a few facts to go on... like how old she is! We are SO excited to finally see our little girl's face! This Important Call is expected to come by the end of September. Once we have our daughter's referral, we will be waiting for travel approval. During this time the our agency will be working on getting appointments at the various government offices in China that we need to complete the adoption. Once they have the appointments, our travel dates can be set. We should be traveling within about 6-8 weeks of receiving the referral.

In the mean time, I am trying to complete a quilt for our new daughter! It's been a several month project, and I am glad to report that I am closing in on finishing it! It started out as 360 three inch squares, and now they are all attached together, so progress has been made! I've actally finished the quilting and just need to bind the edges. That may be the trickiest part of all.

I feel like getting to this point in our journey to Gwen has taken a long time... it will be one year on August 31 since we first applied to our agency, Children's Hope International. The best part of the adventure is still to come, though! Wow. I feel so overwhelmed sometimes by the privilege of participating in this miracle.

Please check back from time to time... I'd love to have you share in this journey with us. Love, Lynne

This is great, Lynne. So glad you started it. I've already linked it on my favorites column. And of course I love the name-- it's one of my favorite poems. And of course the color is perfect: so Pink.

JOY!
