The first time my Chinese friends told me about chicken feet, I actually thought they were joking. Then we went out to eat, and I got to try chicken feet--not too successfully. I didn't know how to eat them. Knife and fork just didn't work.
Also authentic Chinese dessert of pinto(?)beans with a sweet taste. Not bad. Dumplings are my favorite.
Oh yes, I tried them. Didn't include the pictures of my grimaces in the post (Caleb was photographing). They were very spicy, for one thing, and there's just nothing there to dig your teeth into. They seemed rubbery. I would try them again sometime if they were made fresh rather than vacuum packed.
I've tried them at a Dim Sum Restaurant. You just have to bite - really hard and have to work for the meat a little, but they do taste good if you can get over the fact that you are eating CHICKEN FEET! (yes, we have our adventures here in China, too: www.helloandnihao.blogspot.com)
Did you buy them to try or did some one give them to you? I have never eaten the vacuumed pack meats. I have seen too many not packed so well that my stomach turns looking at them on the shelf. You are brave. Azeria loves the non vacuumed packed ones. I guess they are like eating sesame seeds. It takes mouth, teeth and tongue skills. Maybe if you can clean a good foot, you're a good kisser.
We adopted our youngest child, Gwen, from the Sichuan province in China in 2005, making our family SIX. In 2007, we were given the opportunity to move to Shanghai, where we lived for just a few weeks shy of five years. Now we are back in the Chicago area and readjusting to life in the US!

What I like it that the cartoon chicken on the front appears to be sooo happy - and has 2 feet - go figure!

Has Caleb tried the chicken feet or is he just posing? Have you tried them?
