Gwen loved the role of Miss Pumpkin at the fall party we attended last week. Here she is whirling around to catch those who were creeping up toward her turned back, a few steps at a time.
I realize I didn't explain the Miss Pumpkin part of this very well. They were playing a game based on "What Time is it, Mr Fox?" where the Fox turns his back to the rest of the kids. They ask him what time it is, and then take as many steps toward him as the time. Thus, twelve o'clock means twelve steps toward the fox. When they ask the time and he says, "Dinnertime!", he turns around and chases them all. The one he catches becomes the fox. This was a version of that game, but instead of Mr Fox, it was Miss Pumpkin who did the chasing. Gwen's costume has nothing to do with being Miss Pumpkin!
We adopted our youngest child, Gwen, from the Sichuan province in China in 2005, making our family SIX. In 2007, we were given the opportunity to move to Shanghai, where we lived for just a few weeks shy of five years. Now we are back in the Chicago area and readjusting to life in the US!
